When the band’s self-titled demo was released in 2000 few were the acts that vindicated the influence of names such as Blasphemy, Beherit, Impurity or Sarcofago. The late 90s became an overdose of nonsense BM bedroom bands cloning “Transilvanian Hunger” ad nauseam.
With the exception of CONQUEROR it wasn’t until the arrival of the new millenium when Peruvian Goat Semen and Goatvomit (Blasphemy reformed in 1999 but haven’t recorded any new music ever since) brought in their respective demos all the dementia, chaos and perversity the scene was lacking of for at least a lustrum.
The case of Goatvomit was significant noteworthy since their sound was a total departure from the traditional Hellenic style that the titans of the genre from their homeland developed.
Their demonstration cassette opened with an in crescendo keyboard atmospheric black mass which, on its epitome, transitioned to a 4×4 slitting jugular riff sacred bloodspill libation. The reminiscences of Sacrofago “I.N.R.I” comes to mind and so does the evidence of their mastery to unleash rough-and-tumble madness without the need of falling on the easy temptation of delivering a cathartic lawlessness noise, all the way through this pivotal release.
The balance on the mixing and the production proved their capacity to create irreverent bestial tunes with a memorable songwriting, where every single aspect of from the supernatural vocal work, passing through the lacerating bass lines, and even the scattered wise use of the keybords or the fluency of the interludes, are genious.
DWTMH is currently working on additional designs that will be released during the rest of the year in several batches, including zipper hoodies and a synthetic leather oversized embroidery patch.
